BMJ Best Practice is a completely new concept for information delivered at the point of care. The latest research evidence, guidelines and expert opinion are presented in a step-by-step approach, covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Best Practice provides a second opinion in an instant, without the need for checking multiple resources.  It contains about 10000 diagnoses and 200 patient leaflets.  This product is on trial until the end of December 2010 and is accessible with an Athens username. 

Getting Started with Best Practice
·         From the homepage type a condition in the Search box on the right hand side e.g. Diabetes and click the magnifying glass
·         Alternatively you can browse conditions on the site by clicking on the arrow next to show conditions and you can either find you condition using the A to Z format on the right hand side or search by area of medicine on the left hand side.
·         Best Practice content is split into three monographs: Conditions, Overviews and Assessments.
o   Condition monographs will cover specific conditions e.g. Anorexia Nervosa
o   Overview Monographs will give an overview of a group of conditions e.g. Diabetes, where more than one type of a condition exists.
o    Assessment Monographs will guide you through the treatment of a particular symptom e.g. a chronic cough.
